What Are Videographer Jobs at Summer Camp?
Videographer Jobs at Summer Camps
Videographer jobs at summer camps are some of the most creatively fun roles in the camp world. From classic moments around the campfire at traditional sleepaway camps to color war reveals and championship games at large co-ed residential camps, videographers shape how families and the broader camp community experience and remember every summer through moving images.
As a videographer at an overnight camp, you’ll shoot daily across activities, capture special events, edit short-form social content, and contribute to longer-form videos like end-of-summer films and Visiting Day recaps. You’ll manage cameras, gimbals, audio gear, and editing tools while partnering with photographers, content creators, and marketing teams. Many co-ed residential camps run full media departments where videographers collaborate across the camp’s storytelling identity all summer long.
What does a videographer at summer camp do?
You’ll shoot daily activities, capture special events, and edit short-form content while contributing to longer videos. Most sleepaway camps publish video daily throughout the summer camp season.
What gear is typical for camp videographer roles?
Mirrorless camera with versatile lenses, gimbal, lav mics, and reliable laptop running Premiere or DaVinci. Some residential camps provide gear; others ask staff to bring their own kits. Always confirm gear policies in your interview.
What background works best for videographer jobs at sleepaway camps?
Film, video production, content creation, or journalism backgrounds all stand out. Working videographers and students with strong reels are excellent candidates at residential camps with active media programs.
What does the pay look like for videographer jobs at summer camps?
Pay is competitive and commensurate with experience and portfolio. Overnight camps include room, board, and laundry alongside salary, which makes the overall summer camp package noticeably more valuable than the base figure.
Do videographers teach campers?
Often yes. Many co-ed residential camps run filmmaking electives where videographers teach campers shooting, editing, and storytelling alongside their main production duties at the sleepaway camp.
