What Are Baseball Jobs at Summer Camp?
Baseball Jobs at Summer Camps Across the USA
Baseball jobs at summer camps are a fantastic fit for coaches, college players, and former pros who want to spend their summer teaching America’s pastime to the next generation. From classic sleepaway camps in the Northeast running daily diamond practices to specialty baseball academies that pull in elite high school and college talent, baseball coaches are valued for both their technical skill and ability to mentor young athletes.
As a baseball coach at an overnight camp, you’ll teach hitting, fielding, pitching, baserunning, and game IQ across multiple age groups. You’ll run drills, manage intra-camp leagues, and often help organize inter-camp games. Many co-ed and traditional residential camps offer baseball as part of a broader athletics rotation, while dedicated baseball camps run focused weekly clinics with skill assessments and individualized coaching. If you love the game and love kids, this is a dream summer job.
What does a baseball coach at summer camp do?
A baseball coach teaches fundamentals — hitting, fielding, pitching, baserunning — and runs drills, scrimmages, and games across age groups. Most overnight camps include baseball in a daily athletics rotation throughout the summer camp season.
What playing background works best for baseball jobs at camp?
College or high school playing experience is highly valued, as is youth coaching at any competitive level. Specialty baseball camps often prefer coaches with Division I, II, or III experience or recent professional playing backgrounds.
Do summer camps provide all the baseball equipment?
Yes — most sleepaway camps provide bats, balls, helmets, catcher’s gear, and field maintenance equipment. You’ll usually need your own glove and personal cleats. Specialty baseball academies sometimes provide additional advanced training tools too.
What does the pay look like for baseball coaches at camp?
Pay is competitive and commensurate with experience and credentials. Overnight camps include room, board, and laundry alongside salary, which adds significant value to the overall summer camp package.
Can current college baseball players coach at summer camps?
Yes — many residential camps actively recruit current college players. Just make sure to check NIL and NCAA compliance with your athletic department before accepting any paid camp coaching role.

Activity Specialist
Camp Birchmont
693 Governor John Wentworth Hwy
Wolfeboro, New Hampshire 03894
United States
| Job Type | Setting |
|---|---|
| Full-Time Seasonal | Overnight Camp |
Start Date: June 1, 2027
End Date: August 31, 2027
Our extensive activity program at Birchmont is run by an incredible team of coaches, athletes, and artists. Depending on the area, our specialists will either run a program on their own or as part of a team of instructors – helping the campers to learn new skills, have fun and develop their confidence and ability in particular areas. Our specialists also play an important role with their assigned group, assisting as general counselors when not running their own activity area. This role is suited to someone with expertise or experience in a particular activity – previous coaching or teaching experience is preferred, but our Area Heads and Athletic Director are on hand to ‘teach the teachers’, and help talented athletes and specialists develop their own delivery style – so enthusiastic amateurs are welcome also! Current specialty areas which we are recruiting for include: Archery, Arts and Crafts, Baseball/Softball, Basketball, Fitness/Personal Training, Mountain Biking, Games (Physical Education), Performing Arts & Music, High Ropes, Horseback Riding, Tennis, and Soccer. Our Activity Specialists typically will spend about half their day delivering their activity area, and the other half of the day acting as General Counselors, so they get to have the full camp experience, while honing and sharing their skills in a particular program area. These roles are suited to current college students or graduates with a passion for their chosen activity.
