Volleyball jobs at summer camps are a great fit for college players, club coaches, and high school volleyball pros who want to share the game with the next generation. From traditional sleepaway camps running daily volleyball rotations to specialty residential volleyball academies featuring top NCAA and club coaches, volleyball staff find rich teaching environments throughout the summer where they can develop young athletes at every level. Beach, indoor, or grass — every variation of the game is welcome at summer camp.
As a volleyball coach at an overnight camp, you’ll teach serving, passing, setting, hitting, blocking, and defensive play while running drills, scrimmages, and intra-camp tournaments. You’ll plan practices, organize age-group leagues, and support color war and championship events. Many co-ed residential camps run volleyball alongside other team sports, giving multi-sport coaches a packed and varied summer.
What does a volleyball coach at summer camp do?
You’ll teach serving, passing, setting, hitting, and blocking while running drills, scrimmages, and tournaments. Most sleepaway camps include volleyball in daily athletics rotations throughout the summer camp season.
What playing background works best for these jobs?
College or competitive club playing experience and prior coaching at the youth or school level are highly valued. Specialty residential volleyball camps often prefer coaches with Division I, II, III, or pro/beach backgrounds.
Do summer camps offer beach volleyball?
Many do. Specialty residential volleyball camps with sand courts often run beach volleyball alongside indoor; traditional co-ed sleepaway camps may run beach as a seasonal favorite when courts allow.
What does the pay look like for volleyball jobs at summer camps?
Pay is competitive and commensurate with experience and credentials. Sleepaway camps include room, board, and laundry alongside salary, which adds meaningful value to the overall summer camp package beyond the base figure.
Can current college volleyball players coach at summer camps?
Yes — many residential camps actively recruit current collegiate volleyball players. Just verify NIL and NCAA compliance with your athletic department before accepting any paid camp coaching role at a sleepaway camp.
