Timber Lake Camp is hiring for summer 2026!
Timber Lake Camp is hiring for summer 2026, and we’re looking for outstanding summer camp counselors and specialty staff to join our team. At TLC, coaching and caring for children is meaningful work. We take that responsibility seriously, and we look for staff who feel the same.
Located on 500 mountaintop acres in New York’s Catskill Mountains, Timber Lake Camp is a traditional co-ed sleepaway camp just 2.5 hours from New York City. Our beautiful campus includes two private, spring-fed lakes, exceptional facilities, and a spirited camp community that has been helping children grow for more than six decades.

Recent staff have come from across the United States, from Maine to California, as well as Canada, Great Britain, Germany, Holland, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa. As a result, working at TLC feels bigger than a typical summer job. It becomes a shared experience with people who quickly feel like family.
Timber Lake hires general counselors, specialty counselors, area directors, group leaders, and support staff. Each role matters. Whether you are leading a bunk, coaching a sport, teaching an activity, or supporting daily camp life, your work helps shape the camper experience.

Frequently Asked Questions about Working at Timber Lake Camp
Yes. Staff have access to several camp computers during time off. Internet is available during the day and evening until staff curfew, so you do not need to bring your own laptop.
Staff may use time off to leave camp when permitted. TLC also provides transportation to town several nights each week and helps arrange rides on days off when possible.
TLC provides towels, sheets, pillows, and blankets at no charge. However, staff may bring their own linens if they prefer. Comfortable clothing, swimwear, sneakers, toiletries, and camp-ready layers are also helpful.
Counselors receive one period off during the day and evenings off after Evening Activity. Staff also receive five days off during the summer, beginning after the first week of camp.
Working at Timber Lake Camp is meaningful, busy, and social. Staff coach, care for campers, build lifelong friendships, and join an international summer camp community. It is demanding work, but it can be a life-changing summer experience.
