About

Maine Teen Camp provides the best environment for teenagers looking for a new summer camp.

We provide the community and supervision of a summer camp, without the social barriers of a camp catering to younger campers. Campers will experience a diverse community of American and International campers engaged in a broad variety of expertly instructed activities. Each session consists of 3 activity weeks, and several special events and trips. Campers elect their own schedule on a weekly basis, choosing from over 35 activities. Activities include music, land-sports, water-sports, creative and performing arts. While our tennis and music programs are unmatched by other general interest camps, we are not just music and tennis. Our wakeboard/waterski, cooking, community service, creative arts, adventure and land sports are also instructed on a beginner to advanced level. Campers can focus in one or two activity areas, but are expected to try a variety of new and different activities during their stay.

Campers will have opportunities to learn new skills, meet and make lifelong friends, learn how to live in a community - developing independence, respect for others and self, and have fun. Being close to nature, making friends, spending time away from screens, eating healthy food and getting lots of activity and sleep are what camp is all about. Campers will return home happy, relaxed, self assured and ready to excel in the coming school year.

How We Accommodate International Campers

International teenagers appreciate the same things as American teenagers. At MTC, a teen can arrive for the first time and find a totally welcoming and open social environment that simply does not exist in a setting where other campers have known each other since 8 years old. Many of our campers switch from other camps, and comment on how bullying and cliques are remarkably absent at MTC. This is why MTC was founded as a teenage only camp, and has been successful for 31 summers since.
A camper arriving from outside the USA will be greeted by our staff at Boston Logan airport, helped with their luggage and escorted to a waiting MTC van. The van will depart directly for camp, approximately 2 hours from Boston. Upon arrival campers will meet their cabin counselors for the first time, who will help them to the cabin, locating a bunk and unpacking. Then it's on to an orientation, meeting and getting to know other campers, playing games and eating! After signing up for activities on the first day, camp will be in full swing.
For campers who need to develop greater confidence in their English skills, we offer ESL lessons twice a day. However the greatest improvement in language comes from the constant interactions with friends and bunk mates, meetings and classes, all conducted in English.
We provide bed linens for international campers, and laundry is done weekly. We have phones and email accessible in the morning and evening for contacting home.
