Camps Equinunk & Blue Ridge are always seeking experienced, motivated professionals to join our camp leadership team. These roles are ideal for individuals looking to build long-term leadership careers in camping, youth development, and education.
Leadership opportunities may include Head Counselors, Department Heads, Assistant Directors, Associate Directors, and other senior leadership positions, depending on experience, background, and camp needs.
Role Overview
Camp leadership staff play a vital role in shaping camp culture, mentoring counselors, overseeing programs, and supporting the overall well-being of campers and staff. These positions are best suited for individuals who are passionate about working with young people, thrive in leadership environments, and are interested in growing within the summer camp profession over multiple seasons.
Many of our leadership staff are current teachers, coaches, school administrators, or youth development professionals who bring their experience and professionalism into the camp setting each summer.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to counselors and staff
- Oversee cabin life, camper supervision, and staff performance
- Coordinate and manage program areas or departments
- Support camper well-being, behavior management, and communication
- Collaborate with camp directors on daily operations and long-term planning
- Assist with staff training, supervision, and evaluation
- Help maintain a positive, structured, and inclusive camp culture
- Serve as a role model and leader within the camp community
Required Experience
- Prior camp experience preferred but not required
- Experience leading teams or working in youth-focused environments
- Ability to manage responsibility in fast-paced, community-driven settings

Certifications & Additional Requirements
- Ability to meet all camp background check and staff training requirements
- CPR / First Aid certification preferred
- Teaching or coaching certifications are a plus
