Camps Equinunk & Blue Ridge are seeking enthusiastic and responsible General Counselors to join our cabin teams for the summer. General Counselors are at the heart of the camp experience, building strong relationships with campers and helping create a safe, supportive, and fun environment every day.
This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with children, thrive in a community setting, and want a meaningful summer job that makes a lasting impact.
Role Overview
As a General Counselor, you will live in a cabin with campers and serve as their primary mentor, role model, and support system. Counselors accompany campers throughout the day, participate in activities, assist specialists, and help guide daily routines. You’ll play a key role in fostering friendships, encouraging personal growth, and ensuring each camper feels included and supported.
Primary Responsibilities
- Supervise and care for campers throughout the day and evening
- Live in a cabin and help manage daily routines such as wake-up, meals, activities, and bedtime
- Support campers socially and emotionally, helping them navigate friendships and challenges
- Accompany campers to scheduled activities and assist instructors as needed
- Encourage participation, teamwork, and positive behavior
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming cabin environment
- Serve as a positive role model within the camp community
Age Requirement
- Must be 18 years or older by the start of camp
Required Experience
- Experience working with children or teens preferred (babysitting, coaching, teaching, mentoring, etc.)
- Prior camp experience is helpful but not required
- Comfort living and working in a residential camp setting

Certifications & Additional Requirements
- Ability to meet all camp background check and staff training requirements
- CPR / First Aid certification preferred (training may be provided if needed)
