Camps Equinunk & Blue Ridge are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Fabric Arts Instructor to join our arts program for the summer. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with textiles and teaching campers hands-on skills such as sewing, weaving, embroidery, and other fabric-based crafts in a fun camp environment.
The Fabric Arts Instructor plays an important role in helping campers explore creativity, patience, and self-expression through textile arts.
Role Overview
As a Fabric Arts Instructor, you will lead engaging fabric-based art sessions for campers of varying ages and experience levels. You’ll introduce campers to different techniques and materials while maintaining a safe, organized, and encouraging studio space that supports creativity and learning.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead daily fabric arts instruction and hands-on projects
- Teach techniques such as sewing, weaving, embroidery, dyeing, or textile design
- Adapt projects for different ages and skill levels
- Encourage creativity, focus, and pride in finished work
- Maintain a safe, organized, and inspiring work area
- Assist with setup, cleanup, and care of tools and materials
- Serve as a positive role model within the camp community
Age Requirement
- Must be 18 years or older by the start of camp
Required Experience
- Experience with fabric arts, textiles, or fiber-based crafts
- Comfort teaching or guiding others through hands-on creative projects
- Experience working with children or teens preferred
Required Skills
- Knowledge of fabric arts techniques and materials
- Ability to explain processes clearly and patiently
- Strong organization and classroom management skills
- Creative, supportive teaching style
- Attention to safety when using tools and equipment
Certifications & Additional Requirements
- Studying for an Art degree or similar
- Can demonstrate a portfolio of work during the interview
- Ability to meet all camp background check and staff training requirements
