JOB DESCRIPTION: Are you ready to make a lifelong impact on campers’ lives, while gaining real world experience? We take great pride in providing an unbelievable summer for hundreds of campers every year. With over 60 different activities at camp, we are looking to hire highly skilled individuals to be teachers and coaches in those areas. Each specialist will work in their area 5 hours a day, teaching campers ranging in ages 8-15. Specialist will make lesson plans, create fun drills and games, practice schedules, and anything else to keep their program innovative and fresh. As a sports specialist you will also get the opportunity to coach teams and referee/umpire games. The rest of the day is spent as a bunk counselor, watching over and building relationships with your campers.

ROLES AVAILABLE: Baseball, Softball, Flag Football, Basketball, Volleyball, Roller Hockey, Golf, & Lacrosse.

We are also searching for area directors who will oversee a program and live in private staff housing. Salary range will be different than a specialist

SALARY & BENEFITS: $2,400- $3,200 + Room & Board, Meals, and a Travel Stipend

We conduct a weeklong orientation to prepare you for your role. When not teaching lessons, you will get to experience being a bunk counselor. Each bunk will have 7-10 campers and 2-3 staff members. Your responsibilities include watching over and being a big brother/sister figure to your your campers, while most importantly playing camp and having fun with them every day!

QUALIFICATIONS: We are looking for individuals who are skilled and passionate in their sport. Teaching or coaching experience preferred.

To be considered, an applicant must:

• have completed at least 1 year of college prior to arrival at camp
• remain flexible and adaptable
• have the ability to be on your feet for over 12 hrs a day
• have a passion working with and coaching children
• possess an outgoing and fun personality

Activity Specialists and Key Staff have the chance to lead and participate in a wide range of activities, including a variety of sports, a waterfront with a pool and lake, a high ropes course and other outdoor activities, many forms of art, sports, and much more! You will make friends from all over the world, spend your days hanging out with kids, and coming up with entertaining events and programs to keep campers excited and engaged.

We are seeking a responsible, enthusiastic, and energetic person who wants to spend their summer acting as a mentor and role model for kids, while teaching and developing skills in traditional camp activities.

You will work, play, and live in a structured outdoor environment as a summer camp activity specialist, emphasizing a sense of fun, family, friendship, and belonging. Safety of campers and the community is always the top priority.

Duties Include:

• Ensure campers are safe at ALL times
• Participation in staff orientation and training before camp begins
• Guiding children through your designated activities and/or sports
• Teaching and mentoring of young campers
• Conflict resolution
• Enforce camp safety practices
• Assist with setting up and closing of facilities
• Assist with routine maintenance of facilities
• Assist with required record keeping
• Being a role model for children
• Guide children through their summer activities in a positive, fun, and healthy manner
• Supervise and lend assistance to campers, with an emphasis on safety
• Carrying out duties assigned by supervising staff
• Enjoying summer camp!

Activity Specialist Requirements

• Must be available to work from early-mid June through mid-late August, depending on the camp program hiring
• High school diploma
• Experience and expertise in preferred activity area/s
• A love for children
• Flexible attitude with strong skills working in a team
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to problem solve and exercise independent judgement
• Friendly, empathetic attitude
• First aid- and CPR certifications are a big plus
• Must be able to pass a drug and/or background test according to camp policies and local laws
• Experience and passion for caring for children and young adults
