Lead the supervision, safety, and day-to-day operation of the camp’s lakefront program. You’ll manage the waterfront team, enforce safety protocols, and help deliver an aquatic program that reflects the camp’s mission and values. Reports to the Operations Director.
What you’ll do
- Lead the team: Supervise lifeguards, swim instructors, activity instructors, and spotters. Schedule coverage for swim periods, boating, and free swim, and run daily briefings.
- Manage safety: Enforce waterfront rules and emergency procedures, document daily safety checks of docks, boats, equipment, and swim areas, and stay compliant with ACA and state standards. Stay calm and efficient in any aquatic emergency, and keep safety gear (rescue tubes, first aid kits, radios) organized.
- Train staff: Run trainings in water safety, emergency procedures, and rescue techniques, and lead mid-season skill refreshers.
- Run the program: Plan swim instruction, boating, sailing, paddleboarding, and special events. Keep activities engaging, inclusive, and age-appropriate. Maintain equipment and inventory, and help with camper swim assessments and placement.
- Support campers and staff: Help every camper feel comfortable around the water, model enthusiasm and professionalism, and support counselors with behavior and confidence-building.
