KenMont & KenWood is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Head of Basketball to lead the basketball program at KenMont, our boys’ camp, for campers ages 7–15.
As Head of Basketball, you’ll oversee the day-to-day operation of the basketball program, develop engaging instruction for campers of different ages and skill levels, and lead and support the basketball coaching staff. You’ll spend your summer teaching fundamentals, developing campers’ skills, and creating a fun, competitive, and positive environment on the court.
Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the boys’ basketball program
- Plan and organize practices, drills, games, tournaments, and other basketball activities
- Teach basketball fundamentals, including shooting, passing, ball handling, defense, and team play
- Supervise, support, and provide direction to basketball coaches
- Adapt instruction for different ages and ability levels
- Maintain a safe, organized, and energetic basketball environment
- Coordinate with camp leadership and the athletics team
- Help campers build confidence, teamwork, sportsmanship, and a love for the game
Because KenMont & KenWood is a residential summer camp, the Head of Basketball is also part of the larger camp community. Depending on the position structure, responsibilities may include living in a cabin with campers and helping supervise campers outside of scheduled basketball periods.
Staff must live on campgrounds for the duration of their contract.
Qualifications
Previous basketball coaching, teaching, or competitive playing experience is required. Leadership or program management experience is strongly preferred.
We’re looking for someone who is confident leading both campers and staff, passionate about basketball, and excited to share that enthusiasm with young athletes. Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills are important for this role.
