Camp Laurel is looking for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Culinary Instructor to help campers build kitchen skills, try new recipes, and enjoy preparing food together.
As a Culinary Instructor, you’ll lead hands-on cooking activities for campers of different ages and experience levels. You’ll help campers become comfortable in the kitchen, work together on recipes, and take pride in what they create while contributing to the broader camp community.
Responsibilities

- Teach basic kitchen skills, including measuring, mixing, following recipes, and preparing ingredients
- Demonstrate and supervise the safe use of kitchen tools and equipment
- Follow camp procedures for food safety, sanitation, allergies, and dietary restrictions
- Adapt instruction so campers with different experience and ability levels can participate
- Encourage teamwork, curiosity, and confidence in the kitchen
- Prepare ingredients and supplies before activities and keep workspaces clean and organized
- Work with fellow staff to support campers and participate in assigned camp activities and responsibilities
What we’re looking for
Strong candidates should have hands-on cooking or baking experience and feel comfortable teaching children in a group setting. You should be able to explain techniques clearly, break recipes into manageable steps, and keep campers engaged while maintaining a safe, organized kitchen. Experience teaching cooking or working with children is helpful.
Just as importantly, Camp Laurel is looking for patient, encouraging staff who enjoy working with children and want to be part of camp life. You should be ready to build positive relationships with campers, support them as they try something new, and help create a welcoming environment both in and outside the kitchen.
