With session lengths ranging from 2 to 7 weeks, the camp offers a flexible, well-rounded program built around outdoor adventure, sports, arts, and waterfront activities. Campers spend much of their time outside, taking part in a wide range of land and water-based activities that encourage exploration, adventure, and independence. From hiking, camping, and survival skills to rock climbing, ropes courses, and zip lining, the program is designed to challenge campers in a fun, supportive way.FAQsWhat type of camp is Southwoods?Southwoods offers a co-ed sleepaway camp experience for children ages 7–16. Campers can attend for two, three, five, or seven weeks.How long are sessions?Our 1st and 2nd sessions are three weeks long, and our 3rd session is two weeks. Families can combine sessions for five, six or eight weeks. View our Dates & Rates page.How do you handle allergies?Our kitchen team accommodates a wide range of dietary needs and prepares allergen-safe meals using strict cross-contamination protocols. Southwoods also maintains a peanut- and tree nut-free environment to help keep all campers safe.What are the cabins like?Campers live in cabins we call “bunks.” Each bunk includes bathrooms, spacious floor plans, sinks, and plenty of storage so campers can fully unpack and settle in.What is your technology policy?Southwoods maintains a technology-free camp environment. Campers fully unplug during their stay and focus on camp life, friendships, and outdoor experiences.How do campers get to camp?Many campers travel to and from camp on our chartered buses. Buses depart from Westchester, NY; Manhattan, NY; Paramus, NJ; and Philadelphia, PA. Campers who fly into JFK International Airport either shuttle to one of our bus locations to travel with friends or, depending on arrival time, ride directly to Southwoods.What happens if my camper gets sick or hurt?Our on-site medical team includes licensed nurses who live at camp and remain available to care for campers and staff.How do parents communicate with camp?Parents receive direct contact information for our office and Leadership Team.
