Berkshire Trails is seeking creative, patient staff members to teach in our arts program while also serving as cabin counselors.
Current specialty areas include:
- Ceramics
- Painting
- Digital photography
Like all camper-facing positions at Berkshire Trails, this is a dual role. You’ll live with a cabin group and take part in everyday counselor responsibilities while also teaching campers in your creative specialty.
Responsibilities
- Live with and supervise a cabin group
- Support campers during meals, transitions, evening activities, and daily cabin life
- Plan and lead creative projects in your specialty area
- Teach campers basic techniques while encouraging individual creativity
- Adapt projects for different ages and experience levels
- Help organize supplies, materials, and activity spaces
- Create a welcoming environment where beginners feel comfortable trying something new
What we’re looking for
Strong candidates should have hands-on experience in at least one specialty area and feel comfortable sharing those skills with children.
Professional teaching experience is not required, but you should have enough experience with your medium to guide campers through projects safely and confidently. We’re also looking for applicants who are excited about the counselor role, including living with campers and being part of their day beyond the art studio.
