A summer internship at a camp in the US can be among the most fulfilling, thrilling, and memorable experiences of your life. You’ll get to take advantage of summer camp’s many benefits while also learning a ton about yourself and the world around you. You’ll gain tremendous life and career experience.
Internship Credits
Depending on the field of study, many Universities accept summer camp employment as credit hours toward necessary internships. The majority of camps will aid in meeting the conditions of the credit requirements. To find out if this is a possibility for you, speak with your academic or program advisor.
Invaluable Work and Life Experience
Have you considered a job in childcare, t eaching, child psychology? What about culinary arts, coaching, business administration? You may put your talents to the test and acquire practical experience to boost your resume for nearly all careers and industries by working at a summer camp. Along with encouraging the development and confidence of campers, you will also be developing your own skills and abilities as you work with seasoned experts who will support you and lead you through the program.
Fun, Fun, and…Fun!
Camp offers the chance to experience the thrill of living and working in a new environment, in addition to being good for your resume. The majority of camps have excellent facilities that staff members and interns can use during downtime and are situated in picturesque settings on or near lakes. Camps encourage staff to have FUN, play, and be silly even though their positions are important and must be taken seriously.
Safe, Secure and Supportive Environment
A family-like environment in a safe and secure setting is provided through summer camp. Housing, food and recreation is all-inclusive! You don’t have to worry about it. Camp leadership, supervisors, and counselors provide a tremendous amount of encouragement, support, and teaching opportunities.
Cultural Exchange and Immersion
The majority of American summer camps hire staff from all over the world in addition to Americans. This diversity offers the perfect setting for exchanging knowledge and firsthand accounts of global cultures, histories, and appreciations. International staff and campers gain more knowledge of America, and Americans gain a more comprehensive view of the world.
Networking!
Paving the way for success in life and career is not just what you know, but often WHO you know. Interning at a summer camp opens up countless opportunities for networking. You will interact with people from all over the United States and, frequently, the world. It is a fantastic chance to start and grow a global network of friends and contacts.
Optimize Your Summer Break
In addition to living and working in a stunning location in the United States, most camp contracts last between 9 and 11 weeks, giving students time off during the summer before prior to going back to school. Unlike other summer internships, this may give you time and opportunity to travel or just enjoy the rest of summer. During their shared time at camp, many staff members develop close friendships and arrange to travel together to well-known U.S. destinations after camp. Traveling around the United States for up to 30 days after their last day of work is often permitted and encouraged for international staff with J1 camp counselor and summer work travel visas.
Save Money!
The compensation for summer camp includes lodging and meals… therefore, no expenses! Often camps will cover travel and even provide a weekly stipend. You might be surprised how much money you can save by interning at camp for 9-11 weeks of the summer!
